GORDON,DAVID & STEVE: MUSIC OF THE TAROT

GORDON,DAVID & STEVE: MUSIC OF THE TAROT

$8.78

For MUSIC OF THE TAROT, keyboardists/programmers David & Steve Gordon create music that embodies the spirit and essence of tarot cards. Symbolism and meditation–two qualities inherent in a tarot reading–are well represented in the Gordons’ music. Divided into two lengthy tracks, each piece is further separated into movements, drawing from either the Major Arcana or the Minor Arcana of the deck. The second movement (“Chariot Thru Art”) from “The Fool’s Journey” contains airy keyboard sounds, an Asian-influenced melody, and sparkling percussive effects. The latter sounds like falling water droplets (only tuned a couple of octaves higher). The first movement (“Wands”) from “The Magickal Elements” is another enchanting track. Here, the Gordons contrast bright musical colors against the whir of dark, metallic percussion loops. The most resplendent of all the pieces is the second movement (“Cups”) from “The Magickal Elements.” On this track, the music takes on an almost symphonic quality as intense, shimmering keyboard textures come flooding in and out of the mix. Overall, MUSIC OF THE TAROT invokes the beauty and divination of the tarot cards with each passing phrase.
